Utilization of anther-derived lines in hybrid rice

The relative heterosis, heterobeltiosis and standard heterosis were studied for 8 hybrids for 6 characters viz., plant height, total tillers plant productive tillers plant, panicle length, number of grains panicle and grain yield. IR 50 was used as astandard check. The hybrids IR 58025A x CAC 03866 and IR 58025A x CAC 03877 were suitable for plant height. All the hybrids recorded positive heterosis for total tillers and productive tillers plant for which the hybrid IR 58025A x CAC 03881 was found suitable. IR 58025A x CAC 03880, IR 58025A x CAC 03881 and IR 58025A x CAC 04001 were suitable for panicle length, IR 58025A x CAC 03862 for number of grains panicle and IR 58025A x CAC 38860, IR 58025A x CAC 03881 and IR 58025A x CAC 03862 for grain yield.
