Afield experiment was conducted during the wet season of 1998 and 1999 in a silt loam soil to evaluate the effect of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium levels on growth yield and quality (protein) of hybrid rice (Oryza sativa L.). Optimum nitrogen level was found to be 184.07 kg ha~(-1). In case of phosphorus and potassium, higher doses each of 80 kg ha~(-1) P_2O_5 and K_2O were found better for higher production and good quality (protein) of hybrid rice. Maximum grain yield was recorded with 200 kgN ha~(-1), 80 kg P_2O_5 ha~(-1) and 80 kg K_2O haf). The interaction effect of nitrogen and phosphorus levels was found significant. Application of nitrogen and phosphorus increased the protein content in grain significantly.
