Effect of insecticides on green leafhopper (Nephotettix sp.) and its predatory spiders

Ten insecticides, three granular and seven spray formulations, were evaluated under field conditions at the Crop Research Station, Masodha, Faizabad during 1994 and 1995 wet season to identify the promising chemicals against green leafhopper (Nephotettix sp.) that are also safe to the predatory spiders. Carbofuran (3G) at 1.0 kg a.i.ha~(-1) and BPMC (2-secondary butaphenyl-N-methyl car hamate; 50 EC) at 0.5 kg a.i. ha~(-1) were found the most effective against green leafhopper population, besides being the least toxic to the predatory spiders.
