Evaluation of herbicides for broad-spectrum weed control in transplanted rainfed lowland rice

A field experiment was carried out during wet season of 1997 at Kharagpur to identify a broad-spectrum herbicide or mixture of herbicides for effective weed control in transplanted rainfed lowland rice. Among the herbicides tested, ethoxysulfuron @ 0.015 kg ha~(-1) was the most effective in controlling weeds and it recorded comparable grain yield to that of weed free treatment.
