An experiment was conducted to study the effect of recommended dose of fertilizers (RDF) with and without different organic manures on the productivity of hybrid rice variety KRH 2 during wet and dry seasons of 1997-98 and 1998-99. Rice yield differred significantly due to application of organic manures. 75:75:87.5 kg N, P_2O_5 and K_2O ha~(-1) applied with sunnhemp recorded the highest grain and straw yield of main as well as ratoon crop. Comparison of yield between different combinations of RDF and organics showed that effect of RDF+ paddy straw was not better in main crop but, in ratoon crop, it was better than all organics, except sunnhemp. The application of sunnhemp, Glyricidia, Eitpatorium and vermicompost with RDF may help in sustained productivity of hybrid rice, if FYM is not available. Ratoon rice crop yield increased significantly with application of full dose of RDF over 50 percent RDF and control.
