Ken, Rheology and Life

摘要

A brief glimpse is given of Ken Walters' life in relation to our rheological work at Birmingham. It is striking that Ken's mathematical background in no way inhibited his helpful interaction with experimentalists and engineers. Four different experiments are mentioned which led to different forms of cooperation and, unusually, more personal stories are linked to the various phases of work. No apology is made for these deviations from the rheological theme, but the more personal approach may fit well with Ken's concept of a rheological "family" within the worldwide scientific community.
