The effect of operating conditions of flashlamps on oscillation characteristics of dye lasers is investigated. It is shown that considerable improvement of the oscillation efficiency in a laser using an aux-iliary discharge results from increased light output of the flashlamps due to the increased temperature of the main discharge.
