Effect of Degree of Oxidation of Platinum on Spectral and Luminescent Properties of Cyclometallized Ethylenediamine Complexes

摘要

The electronic absorption and luminescence spectra, and the luminescence decay kinetics of cyclometallized ethylenediamine platinum II complexes [Pt(C^N)En]Cl [Where (C^N) is the deprotonated form of 2-phenylpyridine, 2(2'-thienyl)pyridine or 7,8-benzoquinoline; and En is ethylenediamine] and of their oxidation products—the corresponding platinum IV complexes, are studied. It is found that as the degree of oxidation of platinum increases from 2 to 4, the lower spin-allowed and spin-forbidden excited electronic states of the corresponding cyclometallizing ligand change from the d-#pi#~* to the #pi#-#pi#~* type.
