The paper is devoted to the problem of noncontact measurement of the surface of diffusely scattering objects, including biological objects, in real time. A proposal is made to combine the method of projection of fringes formed by the Michelson interferometer with automated decoding of the resulting patterns by the method of phase steps. The experimental set-up is described, the measuring technique and the results of studies of the accuracy characteristics are presented. Images of surfaces of real objects of a complex shape were obtained.
