Noise characteristics of a frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser with an intracavity Brewster plate and type II phase-matched KTP crystal are presented. The combination of the Brewster plate and the KTP birefringence effectively reduces the number of longitudinal modes that can oscillate by a mode selection process. Single or two-mode oscillations are observed in our laser depending on the KTP temperature, and their noise characteristics are experimentally investigated. The temperature sensitivity of the mode selection process due to the temperature dependence of the KTP birefringence is quantitatively analyzed. [References: 12]
