On interference induced non-decaying states

We examined in detail how Fano-like interference effects allow for the existence of particular non-decaying states in atomic configurations in which two degenerate excited levels can simultaneously decay to a common lower one. The same analysis is then applied to the case of a driven system to show how the stability of the corresponding non-decaying state can be assured when some trapping conditions are fulfilled by field and atomic parameters. A new set of these conditions is derived and analyzed.
