摘要

We discuss the multimode dynamics of a Fabry-Perot semiconductor laser in different situations above threshold including mode beating and mode-hopping. A Travelling Wave approximation has been used together with a model with an asymmetric dynamical gain for the semiconductor laser which captures important physical mechanisms needed for the understanding of multimode dynamics. We find that mode hopping occurs mainly as a consequence of changes induced in the asymmetric gain curve by spatial hole burning. [References: 16]
