Starting from the recurrence relations of a multipass amplifier, an iterative computing method has been presented to solve the inverse problem of a laser amplifier, i.e., to find the initial fluence and pulse shape for a given output pulse and amplifier parameters. Numerical calculations have been performed to illustrate the results. [References: 5]
