The Engineering and Technology Board (ETB) is an independent organisation that promotes the vital role of engineers, engineering and technology in our society and inspires people at all levels to pursue careers in engineering and technology. The ETB partners business and industry, Government and the wider science and engineering community: producing evidence on the state of engineering; and inspiring young people to choose a career in engineering, matching employers' demand for skills. The ETB commissions the Engineers and Engineering Brand Monitorleach year to assess progress towards these goals. The monitor was devised and validated in 2008, providing a first cut of data and developing a research methodology capable of remaining consistent over the next four to six years.
