Adaptive filtering algorithm and conversion of images to a vector format

A new local filtering algorithm is proposed for differential smoothing the fragments of images, depending on their informational value. A recurrent median filtering algorithm having some advantages over the usual median filter is considered. An image compression approach based on discrimination of isolines followed by smoothing of them with cubic splines is proposed. Processing of atmosphere density maps showed high efficiency of the proposed algorithms.
