Traumatic pseudoaneurysm of the superficial temporal artery.

A 34-year-old man presented 1 week status post assault with a left orbital floor fracture for which he underwent repair. Approximately 3 weeks following the blunt trauma, he was noted to have a pulsatile mass over the left temple. CT angiography was performed to confirm the diagnosis of a superficial temporal artery pseudoaneurysm. The patient underwent excision of the involved segment because of concern for possible rupture and pain from the lesion. Although rare, it is important to be aware of superficial temporal artery pseudoaneurysms following blunt trauma to the side of the head.
