Companies servicing and supplying Atlantic Canada's offshore hydrocarbon industry are heading into heady days. Their excitement is palpable because, after more than three years of spurts, stops, verbal sparring, and media spin, Hebron-Ben Nevis, a gigantic oil find off Newfoundland and Labrador, and Deep Panuke, a commercially viable natural gas discovery off Nova Scotia, finally appear on track for development. Led by ExxonMobil, the Hebron consortium finally negotiated a deal with Newfoundland last September to develop the heavy oil find.
