It kind of crept up on us,this anniversary thing.Oh sure,we knew that 2007 marked the 60th anniversary of the Leduc discovery.And the 10th anniversary of the Canadian Petroleum Discovery Centre in Devon,established on the 50th anniversary of Leduc #1 to commemorate that seminal event in western Canada's oil history.But Oilweek's 60th? Well,that kind of snuck up on us,mostly because it was just so incredibly difficult to settle on exactly when Oilweek came into being.Turns out Oilweek's earliest predecessor-Oil in Canada-was founded in 1948,about a year after Leduc blew in,and with this issue we begin the countdown to our 60th anniversary in July 2008.
