"Earning the social licence to operate" is a term bandied about in today's corporate social responsibility reports-a.k.a.sustainability reports,stewardship reports,social responsibility reports,corporate citizenship reports,etc.To a cynical eye,these highly edited selections of feel-good information and happy pictures are designed to convince everyone what great corporate citizens these companies are,especially when the reports are published on recycled paper and prominently identified as such.
