DHL set to boost Africa's oil & energy sector

DHL HAS ANNOUNCED plans to launch four Oil & Energy Centres of Excellence across Africa during the next twelve months. The centres will be in Cape Town, Luanda, Accra (for West Africa) and Mombasa (for East Africa). The centres will offer customers specialist expertise in oil and energy logistics, as the continent is poised to become a global energy powerhouse. Oil and energy production within Africa grew from 370mn tonnes in 2000 to 459mn tonnes in 2009, and the continent is expected to maintain, if not exceed, this growth rate in the medium-term to reach a production capacity of 7.4mn bpd by 2014.
