Oil and Gas Generation in the Lower Permian Sequences of the Pechora Region

The hydrogen potential of the Lower Permian carbonate complex in the Pechora Sea is estimated using the historical-genetic method. Three types of organic matter are distinguished in the region: types II(predominantly sapropelic), III-II (mixed, mainly sapropelic), and II-III(mixed, mainly humic). The present-day temperatures and paleothermal conditions are calcualted to estimate the degree of the organic matter maturity. The schematic map compiled outlines the position of the foci of hydrocarbon generation with the Lower Permian sedimentary complex and separate generation zones of different-phase hydrocarbons.
