A method using amplitude-phase imaging of the Earth's surface (SAR RAW data) from spacebased synthetic aperture radars for simulatneous restoration of the signal intensity field (i.e., intensity of small waves) and the radial component of the velocfity field is considered. The signal intensity fields were obtained for the Florida Strait and the Kuroshio region off the coast of Japan. A comparative analysis of these images indicates zero correlation between the velocity of the currents and the signal intensity in the regions with small gradients of intensity. The experimentally measured threshold sensitivity of the velocity flucturations corresponds to the calculations.
