Expeditionary Research in the Western and Eastern Basins of the Aral Sea(October 2005)

摘要

The expedition in September-October 2005 in the Aral Sea became the fifth mission within the program of multidisciplinary studies and monitoring of the condition of the bydrophysical,hydrochemical,and hydro-biological systems of the Aral Sea under the conditions of the anthropogenic crisis.The program has been carried out since 2002 by the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology together with selected organizations of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.During the first expedition(November 2002),a strong haline and density stratification was found in the western depression of the Bolshoi Aral together with the related anoxia and hydrogen sulfide contamination in the bottom layer.
