Advanced ovarian cancer is such a serious condition that any new treatment is noteworthy. The responsiveness to alternative chemotherapy of a relapse is classified in comparison with sensitivity to platinum salts. In the event of a relapse with sensitivity, the classical policy is to resume firstline treatment, which presents a problemof safety in the long term. Some results from recent studies suggest that it may be possible to treat these patients in a new way, using dual therapywhich excludes platinum salts. The phase III study of the Yondelis?-Caelyx? protocol yielded results that support this. This option would thus help delay the resumption of platinum therapy.
