The essential alliance between child, parents and caregivers [La nécessaire alliance entre parents, enfant et soignants]

The purpose of this article is to define the components of the alliance between caregivers, parents and children in the pediatric relationship; we question what the real or perceived asymmetry of this relationship is and the modes of interaction it creates between the protagonists. The confrontation between the experience of illness and medical knowledge of the disease, as well as between the needs of parents and caregivers, stresses the importance of mutual trust and respect. An alliance is necessary to cross together the critical phases, different stages of the disease and treatment, irrespective of their context. This alliance is also necessary for the children to express their full human condition.
