Iowa Trade Team Sees Huge Growth in Chinese Demand for Soy

During an August visit to China by members of the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) trade team, participants learned more about the companies in China that purchase soybeans and the extent of demand for soy in China. Jeffery Xu, chief economist for Chinatex Corporation explained why his company has shifted its attention away from cotton and toward soybeans. "We saw people were wearing fewer clothes and eating more meat," quipped Xu. And since China-tex's entrance into the soybean crashing business "there has been huge growth in the oilseeds and meal markets."
