UK-based pipeline engineering services provider Jee has designed a 'robust' decommissioning cost model for Premier Oil's North Sea Balmoral field. The model includes 'miles of old pipeline and out-of-date assets' and information 'scattered across multiple companies and contractors.' Jee's Mik Crosby said, 'We created; live working document that generated the cost estimate. The model has an inbuilt logic based on current legislation and includes likely decommissioning options used to develop the cost estimate. The result is a cost model that allows Premier to manipulate the estimate according to current market conditions and the duration of operations.'
