Newfield Exploration is dedicating nearly half of its anticipated 2009 capital spending budget to further developing reserves and improving drilling efficiency in its biggest operating area, the Midcontinent region of the US. The Midcontinent holds 47% of the company's total proved reserves or some 1.39 trillion cubic feet of gas equivalent.
