Russia Prepares to Reduce its Controlling Stake in Rosneft

Russia has abandoned plans to decrease its shareholding in the national pipeline mo-nopoly, Transneft, but it has raised more than a few eyebrows by saying it is ready to start reducing its controlling stake in Ros-neft, the country's largest crude oil producer. The Russian government has approved a list of 900 companies that are set to be partly privatized between 2010-15, the country's first deputy prime minister, Igor Shuvalov, said late Wednesday, following a meeting chaired by prime minister Vladimir Putin.
