Brazil's state-controlled Petrobras has started producing and selling gasohol - a gasoline-ethanol blend - at pump stations across Japan. The fuel, dubbed E3 because of its 3% ethanol content, is being produced by Brazil Japan Ethanol, a joint venture between Petrobras and Japan Alcohol Trading, Petro-bras said Wednesday. Brazil Japan Ethanol is partnering with the Japanese environment ministry in a plant producing 36 million liters/yr of gasohol at Sodegaura in central Japan. The gasoline comes from the Nansei Sekiyu refinery in Okinawa, in which Petro-bras has an 87.5% stake.
