North American Shale Gas Production to Rock LNG Business for Years

The outlook for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) business in the coming decade is strong outside of North America, but the continuing expansion of shale gas production in the US and Canada will limit the continent's LNG requirements for several decades, say industry executives at the CWC 11th Annual World LNG Summit. North America will not be an LNG market of note for at least two decades, said Chris Goncalves, vice president of Charles River Associates, a Washington-based consultancy. Even then, LNG demand will be modest, only about 4.5 billion cubic feet per day.
