UK-based Afren has delayed the start of production from its Ebok field in oil-mining license OML 67 off Nigeria's southern Niger Delta until February, pending the arrival of the field's floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. Ebok was due to come on stream by the end of this year. However, Afren said the FPSO vessel set sail from the Yulian shipyard in Shenzhen, China, on Dec. 2 and will not arrive in Nigerian waters until late January. "The Ebok well tests undertaken to date provide confirmation of Phase-1 production expectations of more than 15,000 b/d [of 24° API oil] and have demonstrated excellent reservoir characteristics," Afren Chief Executive Osman Shahenshah said in a statement on Thursday.
