Apache Buys Devon’s Shallow-Water US Gulf Assets for $1 Billion

Devon Energy has agreed to sell all of its assets in the shallow-water Gulf of Mexico shelf to Apache Corp. for $1.05 billion — or $840 million after tax. The deal completes the previously announced sale of Devon’s entire Gulf of Mexico portfolio (OD Nov.17,p1). Apache is set to pick up 158 blocks, including 51 producing blocks, located offshore Texas, Louisiana and Alabama.
