Petrovietnam Mulls BP Buy

Petrovietnam is considering exercising its first right of refusal to the assets that UK ma-jor BP plans to sell to Russian affiliate TNK-BP. The Saigon Economic Times quoted the Viet-namese state firm's general director, Phung Dinh Thuc, as saying that it has received for-mal notice of the sale from BP and will con-sider acquiring bigger stakes in projects in which it already partners with the UK firm if the price is attractive. The company has 60 days to exercise its pre-emption rights.
