In a welcome change from the past the new government at the centre appears to have become pro active on the issue of safety in the downstream petroleum segment. The petroleum ministry has sent out a warning that the state would not hesitate in fixing personal responsibility for lapses in strictly implementing the recommendations of the MB Lai Committee on fire safety measures in petroleum installations.
