Plaintiffs are the owners of $30 million in unsecured bonds issued by Seven Seas, which was forced into bankruptcy proceedings in December 2002. The bonds were issued as part of a $110 million debt offering. Seven Seas explored and developed oil and gas properties in Latin America. Seven Seas hired Ryder Scott Co. to provide reserve estimates consistent with SEC reporting requirements.
