Contract prices for natural gas are approaching those of crude oil after a long period in which they lagged behind the increases seen in the crude markets. One major exporter-Algeria-says that it wants future sales contracts to be more responsive to crude oil market conditions. Algeria has contracts to supply some 5.7 bn cfd of gas either by pipeline or as LNG, mostly to Europe (see Table G).
