Algeria switches away from oil to gas

Faced with a decline in its output of oil,Algeria is increasingly shifting its emphasis to gas.A series of new upstream developments combined with extensions to its gas infrastructure will see exports rise by over a third within about two years according to the national oil and gas company,Sonatrach.All this is good news for the EU,which relies on Algeria for around 13% of its gas and is anxious to increase this proportion in order to lessen its reliance on Russia.It remains to be seen,however,how much extra gas can still be found in Algeria.
