Companies plan more shale gas production

A number of companies have recently announced proposals to develop reserves of gas found in shale deposits. The US already has significant production, but plans are being announced for a series of projects across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Shale gas can be difficult and expensive to extract but reserves are believed to be enormous.
