NOV Gears Up for Rig Plant Launch in Central Russia

Slanding at the right bank of the Volga River in the central Russian region of Kostroma, 76 hectares of dense birch forest behind them, a group of top NOV executives had a decision to make. It was early 2011 and they were on a tour looking for a site for NOVs future drilling rig plant. Earlier that day, they were offered to convert an old factory on the outskirts of Kostroma that used to manufacture pistons for truck engines. NOV turned down the offer, and asked if there were any other locations available. Now they were there. This time, the answer was a unanimous 'Yes".
