Tatneft R&D Institute, TatNIPIneft, developed enhanced oil recovery' (EOR) technology comprising integral effect on layers with the use of microdispersed silica gel based compositions. The technology is developed for mature fields, represented by heterogeneous permeability reservoirs. The impact on the formation is carried out with a composition consisting of two consecutive layers. Initially silica gel microdispersion is pumped (particle size of silica gel is less than 5 microns) obtained from aqueous solutions of sodium silicate and hydrochloric acid which provides the water-saturated intervals blocking in the formation deep zones. Then, a composition is injected to increase oil recovery from less permeable oil saturated interlayers.
