Apache buys BP's Permian assets for $3.1 B

Houston-based Apache Corp. (NYSE: APA) has acquired all of BP Pic's (London, NYSE: BP) oil and gas operations, acreage and infrastructure in the Permian Basin of West Texas and New Mexico for US$3.1 billion, including a $1.5-billion deposit paid on July 30.
