Majors offer dollars to help with tsunami relief

Three majors with substantial oil and gas operations in Southeast Asia announced large donations to the relief efforts there,following the disastrous earthquake and tsunami that devastated the region the day after Christmas.ExxonMobil Corp.,which employs about 5,000 people in Indonesia,Thailand,Malaysia and India,said it is donating cash to relief efforts.The company had already made available its air transportation for medical personnel in the region.ExxonMobil will also match employee and retiree contributions,it said.One of its largest facilities is a natural gas production operation in Aceh province,the area hardest hit,but shipments of gas have continued.
