IHS: Upstream building, operating costs reach record highs

Slow but steady. That appears to be the catchphrase when it comes to upstream building and operating costs over the six months ending September 2012, according to a new report by IHS. Using two cost indexes, the Upstream Capital Cost Index (UCCI) and the Upstream Operating Cost Index (UOCI), IHS found that costs have actually reached record highs, and expects them to continue to rise by 4% to 5% in 2013. The UCCI rose 1%, matching its Q3 2008 high. UOCI rose 0.5% to a new high. The indexes are developed by IHS using proprietary insight and analysis for comparing costs around the world, and are comparable to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
