Markets were generally quiet in the run-up to the Easter holidays, with many traders sidelined towards the end of the week as Good Friday was observed in many countries. North Sea prices barely moved at all. US crude prices, on the other hand, weakened on oversupply. Gasoline was the strongest of the refined products with good demand reported in Europe and shortages feared in the US, where there were several unexpected refinery shutdowns. Gasoline demand in turn raised the demand for light, sweet crudes, which led to a rise in the relative strength of many African crudes over North Sea grades.
