Nikolai Baibakov-A Tribute to Stalin's Oil Commissar and a Beloved Oil'Patriarch'

In the Russian oil industry the senior workers are reverentially called "patriarchs". And the greatest of these was Nikolai Baibakov,Stalin's "Oil Commissar" who died April 3,2008 at the age of 97. He had climbed the career ladder at a dizzying pace from oil engineer to deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR and then to Chairman of the Gosplan (State Planning Committee) of the USSR.
