The prestige associated with the engineering profession,which all but faded away in the Soviet period,is now resurging.Engineering is an occupation that is almost in vogue today,which is evidenced by competitive admissions at engineering colleges and personal observations of people working in the industry.Today engineers are valued again,along with their inventions needed for modernization of oil and gas production.
