One of the OlE's missions since it was established in 1924 has been to collect, analyse and disseminate the animal health information it receives from its Members. The OIE developed its animal health information system in 2005 to improve transparencyin the global animal disease situation. The World Animal Health Information System (WAHIS) is an Internet-based computer system that enables individual countries to enter data on animal diseases online and send them to the OIE, using their personal, secure log-in and password.
