David Edward Mitchell's record of achievement over his long and fruitful life is beyond the scope of any sort of brief commemoration. But apart from noting a few high points - an inaugural inductee in 1997 into the Canadian Petroleum Hall of Fame, Officer of the Order of Canada, Honorary Doctorate from the University of Calgary, director of many corporations, tireless participant and supporter of volunteer and community initiatives - Mitchell will undoubtedly be remembered in the oilpatch for his leadership of the Alberta Energy Company (AEC).
