With both the federal and Alberta's provincial governments now onboard with a low carbon future, the oilsands industry will have to step up its game in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The signing of the Paris Agreement on climate change in April committed Canada to a multilateral 195-UN-member-nation goal to limit global warming to a maximum of two degrees Celsius over pre-industrial levels.
